What began in 2014 as a single-site program in Far Rockaway has grown into a network of six school partnerships across NYC—each one shaped by the people, culture, and needs of the school it serves.

OUR STORY
GROWING WITH FAMILIES, GROWING WITH COMMUNITIES
We launched our first afterschool program in Far Rockaway, Queens
​Harriman Afterschool and Summer Programs started in 2014 with just one school in Far Rockaway. From day one, our promise was simple: to create safe, supportive spaces where kids can thrive, learn, and discover who they are.

Word spread quickly. Within a year, more schools invited us in, and soon we were serving students in Queens and Brooklyn with afterschool programs that felt like an extension of family—consistent, caring, and rooted in each community’s needs.

Over the years, Harriman has grown to six campuses strong. Along the way, we’ve added new opportunities like STEM enrichment, leadership development, and even financial literacy through our Money Talks program—teaching kids skills like saving, budgeting, and investing to prepare them for the future.

In 2024, we launched Harriman 360: Where Afterschool Meets Whole-Child Success. It’s our way of making sure every child has the tools they need not just for school, but for life—supporting their mental health, academic growth, and real-world readiness.

Ten years later, our heart is the same as it was on day one: to partner with families, schools, and communities to invest in our future—one child at a time.
We continued expanding our programming based on what students and schools truly needed.
We celebrated 10 years and added our sixth partnership P.S. 36 in
St. Albans!
We’re preparing to welcome even more schools in 2026 through our dynamic Harriman 360 model.
