How Harriman Began
Harriman Programs began with a commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for young people beyond the school day.
Founded by Steve Dweck, Harriman grew from its earliest programming into a trusted afterschool provider serving students and families across New York City. Over more than a decade, that foundation has been shaped and strengthened by the educators, program leaders, site teams, school partners, families, and young people who have made Harriman part of their communities.
Today, under the leadership of Executive Director Noah Bullard, Harriman is building on that history while looking toward what comes next—strengthening our approach to youth development, expanding programs and partnerships, and creating new ways to help young people thrive, grow, and build.
